“My purpose is to help guide my clients to try and ensure they are treated fairly throughout the legal process and fight for the relief that they may justly deserve.”
Attorney Emily Fertig
Emily Fertig joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin as a personal injury attorney in 2019. She is a passionate advocate for others and considers it a privilege to help people in their times of need.
Moving Cross Country to Pursue Law
Emily was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and graduated with a degree in Sociology from University of California, Berkeley. She wanted a career in which she could help others and initially considered teaching as a profession. Ultimately, through her classes and an internship with the California Superior Court, Emily recognized that the law could be an impactful way to effect change for others.
Ready to explore a change of scenery for herself and start on her legal career, Emily moved across the country to enroll in Mississippi College School of Law where she was the recipient of the Henderman Law Scholarship for outstanding academics. Emily was an active leader among her law school peers, serving as a Senator in the Law School Bar Association and President of the Phi Delta Phi Legal Fraternity.
After receiving her J.D., Emily accepted a position with a personal injury firm in Gulfport, Mississippi, and she immediately knew that personal injury was the practice area where she belonged. “I knew I wanted to help people. Starting out in the field of personal injury was the best thing that happened to me.” At her next firm, Emily was given the responsibility of opening a satellite office and effectively balanced a high-volume caseload while training and managing staff.
Emily brought her considerable management experience, case management prowess, and communication skills to the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin because she wanted to be able to help more people in their time of need. For the past decade, she has approached clients with empathy and taken the time to understand what each person is going through. She enjoys the challenges involved in the investigation and discovery phases of building her clients’ cases.
Settled in North Carolina
Emily originally moved to North Carolina to be closer to her sister and now lives with her husband and two young children in Chapel Hill. The family loves exploring nearby Jordan Lake with their dog, and Emily enjoys reading when time allows.
