Attorney Jennifer Louis-Jeune

Jennifer Louis-Jeune joined the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin in 2025 as a personal injury attorney and advocates for individuals facing significant legal challenges. Her diverse legal experience has shaped her ability to navigate challenging cases and complex legal matters. She is driven to be the voice of her clients and strives to protect their dignity and humanity throughout the legal process.

Jennifer grew up as the fifth of six children in a small town in Louisiana. As the first lawyer in her family, she understands the importance of persistence, preparation, and authenticity in the practice of law.

Watching the attorneys in the O.J. Simpson trial captivate the world with their quick thinking and commanding presence sparked Jennifer’s interest in the law as a child. That inspiration led her to law school, where she overcame significant adversity – including the devastation of Hurricane Katrina during her second day of classes – to become the advocate she is today.

A Commitment to Justice

Jennifer’s diverse legal background includes having been a criminal defense attorney for more than a decade, serving as a magistrate for the state of North Carolina, and representing plaintiffs in mass tort litigation. This breadth of experience allows her to navigate complex legal matters on behalf of clients with confidence.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has taken on challenging cases, including those involving wrongful convictions and federal criminal defense, always striving to ensure her clients are treated with respect and compassion.

“I am inspired by people who get up every day and face challenges I cannot fathom and yet they find joy in their lives. It inspires me to do more with what I have.”

Jennifer believes that an effective attorney is not just knowledgeable about the law but is also a trusted advocate. She understands that legal battles can sometimes be overwhelming for clients, and she seeks to provide them with a sense of hope, even in the most difficult situations, by listening to their concerns, earning their trust, and maintaining a positive perspective.

“It’s a good day to have a good day!”

After obtaining her JD from Fordham University School of Law, where she was a Stein Scholar and a recipient of the Robert Aram Renzulli Prize in Criminal Law, Jennifer went into private practice as a criminal defense attorney in New York City where she represented clients in state and federal matters. This experience included overseeing extensive investigation, research, and preparation for high-profile trials.

Jennifer’s passion for the law extends beyond practice into education. She served as a co-professor for the Federal Litigation Clinic at Fordham Law School from 2020 to 2021 and volunteered as a professor for the Criminal Defense Clinic at Howard University School of Law the following year, sharing her knowledge and experience with the next generation of legal professionals.

After moving to North Carolina, Jennifer became a state magistrate before going back into private practice and working with plaintiffs on mass tort cases. She chose personal injury law because she saw it as an opportunity to help people who are going through difficult moments in their lives.

James Scott Farrin Partner Tom Wilmoth said, “Jennifer is an accomplished trial attorney, with extensive experience in federal court as well as with representing people in need. She is a great addition to our Complex Litigation team.”

Personal Interests

Outside of fighting for clients, Jennifer spends most of her time supporting her kids’ interests and volunteering at their school. She enjoys ballet dancing and loves to travel and check out the many beaches of the world.

In addition, Jennifer is the president of her homeowners association and is the founder of nonprofit 704 Cares, an organization dedicated to providing education and resources for incarcerated individuals and their families. She also volunteers with the New York State Bar to provide legal services and has volunteered with the ACLU of Louisiana in a targeted litigation campaign.
