Rachael Kelly*
Officially, Rachael Kelly is the Human Resources Director at the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, a dynamo who helps the firm attract, manage, and retain a 200+ employee workforce.
Unofficially, Rachael is the guardian of the firm’s belief system, the champion of the “JSF Way,” and the curator of our work culture. And she does all this with a smile on her face and respect in her heart.
“Having the privilege and trust of being able to support my co-workers during their best (or even worst) days is one of the most rewarding aspects of my job.”
Rachael grew up on the coast in New England and moved to North Carolina when she was in high school. She then attended Appalachian State University and afterwards was recruited to join the management-in-training program at Hecht’s department store (later to become part of Macy’s). After completing the program, Rachael took on her first human resource management position – supervising a 150-person workforce – and she’s never looked back.
Since then, Rachael has accumulated extensive hands-on experience in human resource management in a variety of fields, including IT services & consulting, venture banking, and pharmacy technology & consulting. In addition to this practical experience, she earned a Certificate in Human Resource Management at Duke University and has been an engaged member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) since 2005.
Rachael describes herself as an enthusiastic, hyper-organized individual who can pivot quickly from managing employee relations to interviewing potential job candidates to hosting an in-depth team discussion on everything from the employee benefit package to high-level motivational training.
“Rachael is an experienced HR professional in every sense. She is a trusted advisor who excels at promoting a positive workplace experience for our team and in recruiting talented people who fit our culture and mission of helping others.” -James S. Farrin, Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, Founder
Outside of work, Rachael brings her enthusiasm and sunny outlook with her as she volunteers at Duke Homecare & Hospice and the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. Back at home – when they’re not chasing their young son, two French bulldogs, and cat around – she and her husband love to fly fish, travel, and explore small North Carolina towns.
*Rachael Kelly is not a person admitted to practice law in any jurisdiction.
