Law Offices of James Scott Farrin Helps Sponsor Walk Like MADD 5K
Durham-based Law Offices of James Scott Farrin shows its commitment and support for victims of drunk drivers and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), by helping to sponsor MADD’s 2016 Walk Like MADD 5K, Saturday May 21st at the Dorothea Dix Campus in Raleigh.
The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is among the sponsors of this year’s annual Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) Walk Like MADD 5K, which kicks off May 21st at the Dorothea Dix Campus in downtown Raleigh.
James Scott Farrin Attorney Mike Garland is a new member of the MADD North Carolina Advisory Board and Walk Like MADD team captain for this year’s event.
“As a personal injury attorney, I have held the hands of the moms, dads, spouses, and children whose lives have been ripped apart as a result of a drunk driver. Families shattered. Promising lives cut short or left permanently disabled or disfigured. And every time I get another drunk driving case, I can only ask – ‘why?’”
The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin is a personal injury firm. And many of those personal injuries are drunk-driving related. So the relationship with MADD whose efforts are aimed at eradicating drunk driving has been a natural fit for the firm.
James S. Farrin, firm president and founder, who has long been a supporter of these efforts said, “This is something our firm is extremely passionate about. According to MADD, two in three people will be involved in a drunk driving crash in their lifetime. As a father of teens who will be driving on their own soon, this is frightening to me.”
Injuries and Deaths as a Result of Drunk Drivers
The reality is indeed startling. Despite a nearly 50% decline in drunk driving deaths since MADD was founded in 1980, more than 10,000 people are killed by drunk drivers and another 290,000 are injured in drunk driving crashes every year.
In 2014, North Carolina alone experienced over 10,000 alcohol related crashes that resulted in 380 deaths and over 7,000 injuries.
